Even if you characters are pretty beefed up, it’s going to take more than a little hack n’ slash button mashing to get you through these maps. The more power orbs you have when reaching these shrines, the more powerful the new ultimate ability will be. These will give you new ultimate abilities upon visiting them. The stun ability makes a huge impact – I can tell you now it was quite fun to watch as my enemies stopped in their tracks during battle so I could finish them off with a good final blow (you can either have them get stunned upon hitting you, or stunned upon you hitting them depending on which essence you use).The next big addition are shrines. Essences are often dropped by your foes and actually add a lot to the game. Essences are items that can be found which will enhance your equipment with different statistics such as critical damage, energy drain, stun, or counter damage.
If you absolutely love DS3 and are looking for more, then Treasures of the Sun is perfect. If you have been playing the main game and have yet to complete it, but are powerful enough to take on Treasures of the Sun (more importantly, if you are good at the game, and if you’ve set your equipment up right), then you will be in for a real treat beefing up your characters in this DLC. The Dungeon Siege franchise started as a dungeon crawl, and here we are again with maps that feel a bit more vast with old-school exploration, but having the quick-paced hack n' slash action of DS3.Dungeon Siege III: Treasures of the Sun is an expansion well worth the money. It was nice to be taken back to memories of the first Dungeon Siege, debating whether I should go one way or the other, or worrying about some corner I missed or treasure I didn’t pick up. This is something the original Dungeon Siege III lacked (for better or worse). Mix these new essence upgrades with the weapons you are able to find in the DLC, along with the ultimate abilities, and you’ll end up with some pretty powerful characters.What I love most about Treasures of the Sun is that the new maps are very expansive, with plenty of places to explore and meander through.
